Cornerstone isn't a place, it's a people.
We are a people who are learning to recognize our own weaknesses, shortcomings, and failings, but we seek to do so in light of a growing, life-giving understanding of the extravagance of God's incredible, unending, undeserved love for us! We recognize that being a perfect church isn't possible, but that it's the process of becoming an ever-increasing reflection of the character of Jesus in the midst of this world that matters.
We look at "church" as being on a Life journey together...a Kingdom Life Journey as we follow our King, Jesus Christ. Together we want to explore the wide, open expanses of God's Grace and His Glory and we would love to have you join in on the journey. You don't have to be perfect. You don't have to have all the answers. Discovering the answers is all part of the journey, so we want to provide a safe place for people to ask their questions as we, together, seek out God's answers for all of us. We hope you will join us on this journey! Feel free to contact us with questions or just drop by and hang out a while. It would be great to get to know you!
From it's birth in 1972, Cornerstone has intended to be a church that was not defined by traditions, nor by current trends, but by Biblical principles that allow us to be free, vibrant and alive in order to match the needs of our community. From the very beginning, it was to be a church that looked to Jesus to be not only our example, but also our Leader and our Guide.
Why does your church have a membership?
You don't have to be a member of Cornerstone to be involved in all that going on here; however becoming part of a local church is a wonderful opportunity to experience Life and grow in your understanding and relationship with Jesus. Membership in the church is different from joining a club or organization. Membership in the church is based on relationships. Membership means belonging to the body, being a connected part, having a purpose to carry out with others. It also means that as followers of Christ, we have been blessed with the spiritual care and oversight of the shepherding elders of Cornerstone who look to the Great Shepherd, Jesus, for how they care for and lead the church family. Each of us needs to be encouraged, cared for and challenged throughout our faith journey and God has given His Church called and gifted leaders to do just that. We, in turn, have the privilege of being cared for, as well as helping others along in this faith journey. That’s what Christ meant when He commanded His people to become members of a local church.
